STATEMENT OF BASIC JUDEO-CHRISTIAN BELIEFS

Any attempt to summarize and prioritize even a minimal set of Biblical beliefs reflecting the consensus of the Founder and Board of Directors of the organization is a difficult task. However, to serve as a general guideline the following minimal principles, termed as the Statement of Basic Judeo-Christian Beliefs, are considered to be Biblically precise, but in no way are considered to be complete or limiting of God’s revelation. Therefore, we believe:

The Bible, consisting of the Old Testament (Hebrew Bible) and the New Testament from Genesis to Revelation, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings. The Scriptures provide revelation of His will and the divine authority for Judeo-Christian life. [II Timothy 3:1617; II Peter 1:1921]

In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The God of the Trinity is referred to by many names in the Hebrew Bible, including Elohim, Adonai, Jehovah, and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. [Isaiah 63; Matthew 28:19-20; II Corinthians 13:14]

That Jesus of Nazareth (Yeshua, the Messiah of both Jews and Gentiles) was both God and man, having been conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven. Jesus is eternal and is now our High Priest and Advocate to the Father in Heaven. [Matthew 1:18-25; John 1; I Corinthians 15; Hebrews 1; 9:11-28]

That some of the purposes of the Holy Spirit include to glorify Jesus and the Father, to establish the Kingdom of God on Earth, to convict men (both male and female) of sin, to call toward repentance, to indwell, to fill and re-fill, to comfort, counsel, to guide, to instruct, and to give power to believers. The Holy Spirit grants spiritual gifts to believers, and desires for the fruit of the Spirit to be evident in believers. [Luke 3:21-22; John 14:15-30; 16:7-15; I Corinthians 12; 14; Eph. 4:11-13; Gal. 5:16-26]

That all men (both male and female) sin and are therefore spiritually lost. However, the shed blood of crucified and resurrected Jesus provides the only means for salvation by grace alone for those who believe. [Acts 4:12; Romans 3:22-31; 5:12; 6:5-6; Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 1:15-20; Titus 3:57]
